In order to realize creative participation from the community, BGVS designed a campaign to communicate the basic spirit and perspective of the historical Right of Children to free and compulsory education act - RTE to the community at large. It also intends to follow up this communication programme with the formation of sustainable, participatory community structures that would be able to work for the objective implementation as well as monitoring of the programme with a long term perspective.
BGVS as part of the pilot project “Peoples’ mobilisation for Children’s Right to Education”, is carrying out programmes in seven states Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Orissa, Uttrakhand, Chattisgarh from April and it will cover 4000 Panchayats, in 100 Blocks, in 20 Districts. The main components are to create awareness on RTE by organising Kalajatha, forming state, district and block level resource groups which facilitate the formation of Panchayat Shikska Adhikar Samiti and this in turn support the SMC’s to make educational plans so that no child is deprived of his/her right. Extensive training has to be done of the resource groups at all levels.
