The 12th AIPSC was organized at Ranchi, Jharkhand from 20-24, December 2008. BGVS Jharkhand efficiently hosted the event in which more than 600 delegates from 30 member organizations participated. The Congress was organized around the themes of Science Popularisation, Health, Rural Technology, Enterprises and Self Help Groups, Exclusions and Marginalisation, Agrarian Crisis and Sustainability, Education and Literacy, Decentralised Governance and Entitlements and Environment and Climate Change. 8 sub-plenary sessions and 30 interactive workshops were organized around each of these themes. The Science rally that was organized on the inaugural day and Kalajatha performances by the BGVS team added colour to the programme. The AIPSN General Council which met at Ranchi elected a new 21member Executive Committee with Sri. C.P. Narayanan as President and Dr. Amit Sengupta as General Secretary.
