SAMATA Core Group Meeting

SAMATA Core Group Meeting was held on 28th January, 2006 at National Centre, New Delhi.

Some of the decisions taken are as follows:

1.The Samata Sub-Committee should be limited to 10-12 members, 2 persons from the other organization, who can give us time, should be in the core group. Other people can be invited as per the requirement.

2.Samata State Coordinator meeting should be conducted with the core group. The first day should be core group meeting & the next day with Samata State coordinators.

3.A good report of Samata with photograph is to be prepared.

4.We should start enterprises slowly and in less numbers. The districts should be identified for this. The group has given the responsibility to prepare a plan with one year project and discussed with the states. The district is to be identified and the members will take an assessment of the districts only to find out whether the district is prepared to start enterprises or not. A national training on enterprises will be planned.

5.There is a need of doing training on Education & Health. A working group for planning the Education component was formed to design the training & the content of the Education. The working is to finalize the programme till end of February 2006.

6.A health committee was formed to conduct the training programme on Women Health and to include Adolescence Girl. Health Education & Food Security is the content. A working committee was formed and they have also given the responsibility to finalize the programme and inform to the states coordinators within 15 days.

7.A national campaign for the mobilization of women and consolidation of Samata programmes will be taken up in the coming year. The members strongly agreed that the National campaign for women will strengthen the organization and can also reach to new districts. New programmes can also be worked out with universities, institutions and movements. Issues like Right to Work, Right to Information, and Right to Health Care , PNDT Act Domestic violence Act etc should be incorporated in the campaign.

The dates of the campaign will be from 5th June 2006 to 8th march 2007. A working committee was formed to work out the details of the campaign consisting

8.Publication will be as follows:

i)Series of booklet related to women issues, according to the decided content ii)Different type of guide book for the specific group. iii)Bulletin for Samata ,Soman was given the responsibility to collect the materials for ‘Samata bulletin. iv)A writers workshop is to be conducted to finalise the books.
